POLL: Do You Think Marylou's Hiring Practices are Prejudice/Sexist?

Some believe Marylou's is discriminating against applicants when hiring. Do you agree?

Marylou’s coffee chain is under federal scrutiny over its hiring practices.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is investigating whether Marylou’s Coffee discriminates while hiring, according to CBS.

Marylou’s Coffee, which has a location in Hingham on Whiting Street is  known for having a young, female staff.

While Marylou's has defended their business, they have also received support from State Senator Robert Hedlund who  told CBS that he will write to officials in Washington on behalf of the South Shore coffee chain.

A spokesperson for Marylou’s has issued a statement to CBS:

“Marylou’s is a woman-owned business that has not had a single complaint in the 25 years we’ve been open…The implication in this report is absolutely false. We hire only the most qualified applicants, in total compliance with state and federal laws, to work in our stores, and those qualifications begin and end with a winning personality and a passion for customer service.”
