Forecaster Says Sandy Will Absolutely Impact Hingham

Hingham weather man Michael Page expects a dry Halloween but believes Sandy will bring rain and wind.

Although it is unknown if Hingham will be hit by Hurricane Sandy, the town will be impacted by the storm, Hinghamweather.com forecaster Michael Page said.

Page, who studies Hingham’s weather throughout the year,  said clouds will be in place by Sunday, with winds and rain increasing Monday and storms coming in on Tuesday.

“Tuesday looks to be the stormiest day, with gradual improvement by midweek,” Page said.  “Sandy will be a slow mover, but winds should relax, and we should start to dry out by Halloween.”

What Hingham residents will have to watch out for is heavy wind, which could range from 40- 70 mph, downed branches and wires and coastal flooding, Page said.

“Hingham is fortunate in that we have some protection from coastal flooding,” Page said. “However, typically vulnerable areas both here and in nearby towns like Scituate should prepare for at least moderate coastal flooding early next week.”
