Get Out This Weekend: August 25-28

Don't let Hurrican Irene ruin your weekend. There will be a road race, a teen concert, and Farmer's Market Day in Hingham this weekend.

Wizard of Oz
Get out Thursday and head down to the Hingham Shipyard at dusk to see the free outdoor movie, “The Wizard of Oz.”  Attendees are recommended to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.  The event is behind Hingham Beer Works at the amphitheater.  Movie concessions from , Hingham Beer Works and are available.

Farmer's Market Day
Get out Saturday for . Saturday will serve as a day of celebration with two baskets raffled at the cost of $1 per ticket, or six for $5. A winner will be chosen at the end of the market day; however, one does not have to be present at the drawing to win.

Road Race
Get out Thursday evening and race around Bare Cove Park. The 5 mile End of will take place at 6:30 p.m. Race Day Registration is  $30 at Bare Cove Park.

Summer Celebration for Kids
Get Out Friday for some free family fun at end of summer celebration from 6 to 7 p.m.  All Hingham residents are invited.  There will be entertainment by “Music Mike,” Food provided by Boston Market and Planet Smoothie, face painting,  pony rides, arts and crafts and a raffle and giveaways.

Middle School Monster Jam
Get out this weekend and take your teenage child to the   on Friday for a chance to perform in a live musical  event.  All middle school students from Hingham and the South Shore are invited kick off the new school year by rocking out with their friends.  Students from grades 6-8 can  take part in the SSC's which will be held Friday from  7 - 9 p.m. at the South Shore Conservatory in Hingham.  The event will be  loaded with performance tips and microphone techniques and all musicians - horns, winds, strings, rhythm and voice - will also experience break-out coaching sessions with South Shore Conservatory instructors.

Summer Sounds
Get Out Friday for a live outdoor concert. Raffael's and the Greenside Grille at the will feature musician Livingston Taylor, as part of their Outdoor Summer Concert Series, The concerts will be held at the new pavilion overlooking the 18th green  on Friday August 26, at the South Shore Country Club at 8:00 p.m.

Free Concert at the Shipyard
Get out Friday night for a free blues concert at the Hingham Shipyard.  "The Brian Templeton Band" will be performing.  The concert begins at 7 p.m.  Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.  The event is weather permitting.

Music Nights on Derby Street
Get out Friday and Saturday for Music Nights at the   The “Both Sides, Now" which is a tribute to guitarist Gerry Johnson will perform Friday and “the Marshalls” will perform Saturday.  Each concert is free and starts at 6:30 p.m.
