Hingham Bank Opens on Nantucket

The Hingham Institution for Savings will open its newest branch on Nantucket
The bank bought a three-story building at 35 Main Street on Nantucket last month, paying $3.6 million for the property, according to the Boston Business Journal.
The move makes sense for the Hingham-based bank. Before its opening, it became one of the top five lenders on Nantucket, the Boston Business Journal reported.
This will be the fourth bank to open on the island. Cape Cod Five is the only community bank with a presence on the island.
Hingham Savings currently has 10 branches across the South Shore and in Boston’s South End and Beacon Hill.
