Trust Fund Started For Hingham Cancer Victim

The Gordon Family Trust Fund has been started for Hingham High School boys hockey captain James Gordon and his family. Gordon was recently diagnosed with cancer.

Local Fundraisers and a trust fund have been started for boys hockey captain James Gordon and his family.

Gordon, age 18 of Pioneer Road was recently diagnosed with testicular  cancer and now the Hingham community is trying to raise money to help his family pay for his medical conditions along with his 2-year-old sister, Jennavive’s Downs Syndrome which also requires extensive therapies.

The Hingham Community will hold “Godon’s Gala” on May 17 at Lombardo’s in Randolph from 6 to 10 p.m. where all the money will be donated to Gordon and his family. .  Tickets for the event are available for $100 donation, which includes a buffet dinner,  silent and live auction items, and lots of great people from the South Shore community. The Hingham community has also created T-shirts, which have Gordon's hockey number "17" on the front and have the inspirational saying, "We Got This" posted on the back.  These red shirts are being sold at  the and all the proceeds will go to the newly formed  Gordon Family Trust.

Gordon’s teammate John Grenier said the varsity hockey team also raised money for him and his family by selling an iPad.

Hingham residents Bill and Jean Garrity have also raffled off two tickets to last Saturday’s Boston Bruins season finale against the Sabres in which all the money raised was donated to Gordon’s treatment.

James will be undergoing chemotherapy treatments for the next several months. The high school senior is  one of four children,  and is well known around town  for his outstanding play on the ice as he was recently announced   by the Boston Globe for leading his team to the Super 8.
