Who will you be cheering for, Brian Boyle or the Bruins?

The Boston Bruins are set to play the New York Rangers in the second round of the NHL playoffs, but some Hingham residents may be rooting for Ranger's Center Brian Boyle who was born and raised in Hingham.

Boyle, age 28, who played high school hockey at  St. Sebastian's School in Needham before attending Boston College, has 2 goals and an assists so far in the NHL playoffs.

In recent years Boyle’s had many scuffles with the Bruins and he has developed a hatred for his hometown team.

“I had a lot of aunts, uncles and cousins or whatever that were all excited [about the Stanley Cup], but I’m in a different situation…In baseball it’s always talked about on ESPN and in football with what’s happened lately, a [Boston/New York] rivalry can only help the game,” Boyle said to Comcast Sports.

The series between Boston and New York begins Thursday night.
