Elizabeth Warren Visits Hingham

Massachusetts  Democratic Senate candidate made her first campaign appearance in Hingham on Tuesday by visiting

Warren who will oppose Senator Scott Brown on November’s ballot received a warm welcome from Linden Ponds’ residents.  The Senate Candidate spoke to close to 500 residents from the retirement community and then took questions from the crowd.

Linden Ponds Political Interest Chairman Marty Saunders said the visit will likely benefit Warren as Linden Ponds has over 500 voters who are registered as Independent

The Hingham retirement community has 324 registered Democrats, 185 registered Republicans and 586 registered voters who are not affiliated with either party.  The senior living community also  has voting booths right on its campus and sees a 87 percent voter turnout from its residents.

Saunders said she the LP community was very impressed by Warren’s views and even residents who were registered as Republicans attended and were pleased by the visit.

“She was very warm, very comfortable, and very natural,”  Saunders said. “Her graciousness stuck out."

LP resident Joy Griffith, age 77, said she was impressed with the way Warren answered her questions. She said the senate hopeful covered residents concerns by addressing  issues such as social security and health care.

“The way that she speaks is amazing because she gives complete detail,” Griffith said.  “She teaches as she answers.  The answers she gave were complete and tough to argue with.”

Linden Ponds’ Political Interest Group is currently communicating with Scott Brown’s spokespeople and hopes the senator will visit before November’s election.
