New Gym and Wine Shop Set to Open at Anchor Plaza in Hingham
Two new businesses are finally opening in the vacancies at Anchor Plaza.
A Reebok Crossfit gym and Ralph’s Wine & Spirits are moving into the two vacancies in between Planet Fitness and Bruegger’s Bagels at Anchor Plaza on Route 3A.
Reebok Crossfit Bare Cove held their first classes on Monday (Nov. 26) behind the main entrance of their property, which was once an Old Navy. Their building is still going through inspections and they will continue to hold classes in the gym behind their property until it officially opens.
Ralph’s Wine & Spirits will move from its Derby Street location to Anchor Plaza after New Years.
Crossfit Bare Cove
Although Reebok Crossfit Bare Cove is opening right next to a Planet Fitness gym which opened in 2011, Owner and Head Coach Mike LeJeune said Crossfit is much different because its members work out with groups of people, as part of a team.
Instead of dealing with exercise machines like traditional gyms, Crossfit uses workouts from daily routines.
“A very common misconception about Crossfit is that you have to be fit,” LeJeune said. “ That couldn’t be further from the truth because one of the great things about what we do is functional movements. These are the movements that we do everyday in life. It’s squatting, it’s dead lifting, which is picking things off the ground, its lifting things over the head. We’re able to scale those movements to anyone’s fitness ability level.”
Crossfit Bare Cove is an independently owned gym by LeJeune along with Chris and Sharon Froio. Reebok does not own it but does have an affiliation with the new training center. The new location is similar to Crossfit Hingham on Sharp Street and Crossfit 781 in Weymouth.
Its members range in age from kids to high school teens to middle aged men and women to retirees over the age of 60. Crossfit even welcomes members who are overcoming a recent surgery or even have amputated body parts.
Interested Hingham residents can become members by visiting the gym or going to reebokcrossfitbarecove.com. The gym’s classes begin on time and end on time and last one hour.
“You don’t have to be fit to do Crossfit, but once you do Crossfit you’ll definitely be fit," LeJeune said.
Ralph’s Wine & Spirits
Brothers Ralph and Rick Herson who have been running Ralph’s Wine & Spirits since 2009, will move across town in 2013 to Anchor Plaza.
The upscale liquor shop will bring a selection of hand-selected wine, craft beers and fine cigars to Route 3A Hingham.
Customers will get expert advice from Ralph, who is a world-class sommelier who worked at Le Cirque in New York City.
