Principal Chuck Cormier kissed the pig twice and called the experience “sloppy and wet.”

Cormier agreed to kiss the pig after his elementary school students reach their reading goal of 300,000 minutes.

“The enthusiasm that we saw here is what we try to develop in school,” he said. “It motivates the kids to do well in school.”

Assistant principal Melissa Smith and former assistant principal Dave Whiting also kissed Daisy.

The “Pig Out on Reading,” event was organized by Plymouth River School librarian Diane Hallisey and funded by the Hingham Education Program.

The following students were also named winners of a bookmark design contest:

Grade 1: Teresa Pikoulas
Grade 2: Megan Bianchi
Grade 3: Caroline Johnson
Grade 4: Sofia Sampson
Grade 5: Courtney Sherwood

What a fabulous focus to have...reading. It just goes to show you that if you set your mind to achieving something, it can be done. All while kissing a pig!
