Suspicious Man Approaches Hingham Child Before School

Hingham Police said the child reported a man stopped and asked him "Hey bud, do you want a ride to school?"

Police are investigating an incident in which a man in a vehicle stopped and asked a boy if he wanted to ride to school on Friday morning.

Police said the 8-year-old boy was approached at 7:30 a.m. while he was walking to his bus stop near the corner of Bradley Park Drive and Harbor View Drive.

Hingham Police said the child reported a man stopped and asked him "Hey bud, do you want a ride to school?"

The child did not recognize the man or the vehicle and said “no” and the man then drove away without further discussion, police said.

The older model white or yellow vehicle  then left the neighborhood onto Thaxter St. in an unknown direction.

The vehicle is believed to have three windows on the side and drivers side damage on the lower panel between the two tires (rocker panel area).

The driver is described as a white male, mid twenties, with blackish-brownish short hair, wearing a gray shirt.

Police said it is possible this driver lives in the Bradley Park neighborhood and may know this child and did not intend to cause any alarm.
