Suspicious Man Throws Object in Hingham Reservoir

Hingham Police, FBI and State Police investigated the scene and found papers located near the water that were not written in English. State Police Divers did not find anything in the water.

Hingham Police are still investigating a suspicious activity that took place this morning at Accord Pond.

Hingham Police Sgt. Steven Dearth said Hingham Police received a report at 8:09 a.m. this morning from a resident who observed an unidentified man who walked up to the Accord Pond on Accord Lane and threw something in the water.

The resident was concerned about the integrity of the water supply and called the Hingham Police.

Police found papers  located near the water that were not written in English.

Accord Pond is the reservoir that serves the towns of Hingham, Hull and a portion of Cohasset.

Police responded and contacted the FBI and State Police for assistance and notified the Aquarian Water Company who also sent their staff to the area, Dearth said.

The State Police dive team responded to the area, checked the water, and did not locate any items.

Aquarion Water Company elected, as a precaution, to shut down Accord Pond. However, water service has not been affected.

All police personnel have cleared the scene and the matter will remain under investigation by the Hingham Police Department.
