Two Rollover Crashes Delay Traffic on Both Sides of Route 3
Three crashes occurred within 30 minutes of each other on Route 3, delaying traffic on the northbound and southbound sides.
Both sides of Route 3 Hingham are backed up with traffic due to two rollover crashes and a deer being struck by a vehicle on Tuesday.
State Police said the crashes were all within 30 minutes of each other.
The first rollover accident was at 11:50 a.m. on the northbound lanes of Route 3 in the area of Derby Street, Hingham. State Police said the cause of the crash has yet to be determined. Two people were transported to south Shore Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Within a 10 minute span, another rollover crash was caused in the southbound side by couch that fell off a vehicle. Police said another vehicle swerved to avoid the couch and rolled over sending two more people to South shore hospital with non-life threatening injuries. This accident occurred within sight of the other crash and police said a citation will be issued for unsecured load.
Police said a third incident involved a vehicle striking a deer on the northbound side of Route 3 by Exit 13 in Hanover. The deer ran off into the woods after causing damage to the vehicle.
Police said Route 3 was completely reopened by 12:30 p.m. but traffic has been significantly impacted as troopers are in the process of removing vehicles from the roadway.
After the crashes, State Police were assisted by Mass Department of Transportation and Hingham Fire Department.
