Weymouth Man Charged In Cushing Street House Break-In

Police are charging Michael J. Belanger with breaking into a Cushing Street home last month. A digital camera he allegedly stole was found in his SUV.

A Weymouth man who neighbors say in a red SUV last month was arrested for another break in Quincy.

Quincy Police arrested Michael J. Belanger, age 44 of 85 Whitman St. #106, Weymouth after he allegedly broke into a Quincy home on April 12, Hingham Police confirmed Tuesday.

Police say Belanger was connected to a similar break-in three days earlier on Cushing Street in Hingham.  Hingham Police say prescription medication, chrome vehicle rims and a digital camera were stolen from the home located in the 400 block on Cushing Street. Police said the home was entered through an unsecured entry way to the rear of the home.  According to police, neighbors witnessed Belanger escape in a late 90’s red-two door SUV .

Hingham Detective Philip Emmott continued the investigation and sent a broadcast to all police agencies of the incident and vehicle description. The next morning the victims noticed a digital camera and prescription medicine had been stolen.

Once Quincy Police arrested Belanger, they found a digital camera with photos stored inside belonging to the Hingham victim inside his Ford Explorer. A witness also informed Detective Emmott that they recognized the mug shot they observed from a newspaper article about the Quincy arrest.  The prescription medicine was not located.

Hingham Police have summonsed Mr. Belanger on charges of Breaking and Entering Daytime to Commit a Felony and Larceny from a Building. He is currently being held at the Dedham House of Correction on the Quincy charges and will be arraigned at Hingham District Court on the new charges on May 16.
