What Boston Area Celebrity Would You Like to See Open a Restaurant?

If everyone has a book in them, it could be said every celebrity has a restaurant waiting to get out.

It’s up for debate whether the Boston area is known for its fine dining, outside of boiled shellfish, baked beans and chowder, but locally born celebrities are taking the plunge and opening up eateries.

While Belmont native Sebastian Junger is a co-owner of the Half King  restaurant in New York, Boston native and star of  Junger’s book turned into a movie, "The Perfect Storm," Mark Wahlberg, is a part investor with his brothers in Wahlburgers in Hingham.

Fellow South Shore residents Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith once owned the Mount Blue restaurant in Norwell.

Alas, Cambridge's most famous celebrity chef and Smith graduate, Julia Child, never owned a restaurant!

Would you eat at a restaurant owned by a Boston area celebrity? Doris Kearns Goodwin, James Taylor, John Geils, Nancy Kerrigan, Alexandra Stamier, Nick Flynn, Mindy Kaling, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Amy Poehler, Jane Alexander, or Uma Thurman? The list isn’t endless, but it certainly is not limited to the above suggestions!

Let us know what celebrity you'd like to see open up a restaurant in the Greater Boston Area. Tell us in comments.

I would be curious to see what film director and Provincetown resident John Waters would serve to the public!

Jerry Remy has a good thing going with his two restaurants in Boston but I would like to see Damon and Affleck tag-team and open up a Sports Bar right on Landsdowne St.

Steve Carrell. He could use some of the businesses that Michael Scott never got to open like Shoe La La!

Not quite a Boston area celebrity- but at least a NE Patriot- I'd like to see Gronk open a hamburger restaurant.

I liked Aerosmith's restaurant in Norwell. Good food, good entertainment.

Tommy Finneran, Charlie Flaherty and Sal DiMasi should open a restaurant called Three Democratic Felons.
