For the second year running, Berklee Stars at the South Shore Conservatory is one of three concert series coming to Hingham this summer.
South Shore Conservatory has continued its partnership with Berklee College of Music to present a Friday night outdoor entertainment series featuring promising solo musicians and bands in the Jane Carr Amphitheater on the Conservatory’s Hingham campus. Sponsored by William Gallagher Associates for the second year running, Berklee Stars at SSC is one of three concert series in the Conservatory’s new Summer Spotlight series. Other series include Evenings Under the Stars Saturday evening concerts, and Wacky Wednesday family concerts. The annual Taste of Hingham is scheduled for today from noon to 3:00 p.m. For Hingham residents, this is the one day of year to sample the very best food selections from your favorite Hingham restaurants and businesses. Tickets are available for purchase at Noble's Camera Shop (29 Main St) or Puopolo Candies (222 North St) or at the event's entrance. Advance tickets are $25 per family or $12 for an individual. Silver Lining Playbook showing in Hingham tonight.
The 2012 American romantic comedy-drama film Silver Lining Playbook will be playing at the Hingham Library's Independent Movie Night on Wednesday. Silver Lining Playbook stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. It is about a man with bipolar disorder who is released from a psychiatric hospital and moves back in with his parents. While trying to win back his estranged wife, he meets a recently widowed sex addict and the two become closer. The movie was nominated for eight Academy Awards and Lawrence won the Oscar for Best Actress. Hingham residents are invited to watch the film at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the library's Whiton Room.

Hingham kids will get the chance to climb on boats, learn boating safety and watch a knot tying demonstration at the second annual "Touch A Boat" event.
Families are welcome to come down to the Hingham Harbor this Memorial Day Weekend. The Friends of Hingham Harbor will hold their second annual "Touch A Boat" event at Hingham Harbor on Saturday, May 25 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children can get on deck and climb aboard Hingham’s Harbormaster boats and those from other state agencies. Hingham Harbormaster Ken Corson will be there to kick off the summer season by educating the community about boating safety, the US Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer lifejacket fittings and EMS will be there to showcase the latest water gear and offer Stand-up Paddle Board demonstrations. “What better way to teach kids about boating safety than at a fun event like this? A spring pig roast coming to Central Street this month.
The Old Colony Lodge will hold a pig roast and cigar dinner in mid-May to benefit their scholarship fund. The dinner cost $45 per person and will be held May 18 at the Lodge on Central Street.
