Hollywood Coming To Hingham with Festival of Trees and Treeview

Festival of Trees and Treeview will take place at Old Derby Academy during Hingham's picturesque Christmas in The Square.

The Boston area has been a hotbed of movies lately, and the South Shore is no exception. In fact, on December 7 and 8 , Hingham Mothers’ Club is going to bring a taste of Hollywood to Hingham.

The bright lights start shining Friday night, December 7, at the Tenth Annual Festival of Trees. Per tradition, Festival of Trees will take place at Old Derby Academy during Hingham’s picturesque Christmas in The Square from 6-8 p.m. During Festival of Trees, the public is welcome to take a tour of the many creatively themed and decorated Christmas Trees, donated to HMC by local businesses and organizations.

“This is the tenth anniversary of Festival of Trees”, says Liz Klein, president of HMC. “To celebrate that, we are changing things up a bit, with the intention of involving the entire community. We will choose ten spectacular trees for raffle. Attendees can purchase their raffle tickets, and place them in the box that corresponds with the tree or trees that they would like to win. The suggested donation to view the trees is $10.00. Festival of Trees will also be open for viewing and raffle from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 8. The raffle winners will be drawn on Saturday, and all winners will be notified.

The Hollywood glitz and glamour continue on Saturday night, December 8, at the now-famous Treeview Holiday Cocktail Party with live and silent auctions. Treeview takes place from 7-11pm at Old Derby Academy, after Festival of Trees has closed. Dress code is Hollywood best, and guests will be invited to bid silently on trees created especially for Treeview. There will be five or six A-List trees auctioned live. “We want the live-auction trees to deliver an experience”, said Sara Abbott, Treeview Chairperson. “We are collecting trips, interesting activities, and rare items to auction.  We are speaking to people in LA and New York; there are going to be some amazing trees.”

Tickets sell for $55 for members, $80 for non-members, and include food, beer and wine. There are rumors of signature drinks, but those details will be revealed closer to the event. The local band Take-Out will be rocking the party that night, featuring celebrity vocalist Chantal. Dot and Dash, of Hingham party fame, will be creating a surprise dessert table.
