LETTER: Leaving Role as Hingham's Local Editor

Patch's Tony Catinella is being moved out of Hingham, but he's not going far. Find out what he'll be up to next and who your new local editor is.

Dear Hingham Patchers,

I have some bittersweet news to share: after two and a half years,  this is my last week as Hingham Patch's Local Editor.

In my new role, I will be taking over as editor of the Canton site while still remaining the Weymouth Patch Editor.

Starting Monday, August 26, Joseph Markman will be leading the way as Hingham Patch’s Local Editor.  Markman lives in Quincy and has been the Local Editor of Braintree since 2010.

Hingham Patch has grown quite a bit in the 30 months we've been around, and it's thanks to each and every one of you who's shared your stories, uploaded your events and announcements, and been a voice in our community.

It was a pleasure building this site from scratch.  When I first arrived in March 2011, people questioned me and confused us with the Hingham Journal. Today, thousands come to our site and social media pages every month.

Over my 2 plus years in Hingham, I have enjoyed working with town residents, officials, business owners, and the police department and fire department.

What I'll miss most is covering Town events. My favorite days were the events where all Hinghamites came together, especially the Taste of Hingham, the Fourth of July Road Race and Parade and the Thanksgiving Football game.

I will miss covering Hingham’s news, real estate and on-going police stories and working out of the Hingham Library and Brewed Awakenings.

Thank you all for reading.
