Hingham Actor Starring in College Production of Cabaret

Hingham resident Alex Boyle will star in a leading role later this month in Dean College’s production of Cabaret.

Boyle, a sophomore theatre major, will play the Emcee, also known as the Master of Ceremonies, who "welcomes the audience to the show and assures them that, whatever their troubles, they will forget them at the cabaret. His songs provide wry commentary throughout the show," according to Dean College.

"The scene is a night club in Berlin, as the 1920’s are drawing to a close," the college said in a press release. "Cabaret is a story told though the words of the young American writer Cliff, of Sally Bowles and her “divine Decadence,” of Fraulein Schneider and Herr Schultz, and the people of Berlin leading up to the Third Reich. Cabaret shows us the end of a tumultuous and heartbreaking era, the fearful dawn of a new one.

"Dean College, a regional powerhouse in the study of performing arts, has created a 4-year program that is truly a showstopper. Dean has an outstanding reputation in the arts, offering associate degrees in Theatre and Musical Theatre, and baccalaureate degrees in Dance as well as Arts & Entertainment Management."

Show times are Nov. 20 through Nov. 24, 7:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
