Hingham Tree Crew on National Geographic Show

"Big Bad Wood" premieres Thursday, Oct. 17.

Specialized Rigging and Tree Care of Hingham is one of a few Boston-area tree companies featured on the upcoming National Geographic Channel series "Big Bad Wood."

On the first episode, premiering Thursday, Oct. 17 at 9 p.m., the Hingham company must "take down a towering white pine while giving a new crew member the chance to show his stuff," according to a description on the show website

Jay Malouf and Mike Martinez of Specialized Rigging and Tree Care are Certified Arborists serving clients throughout the greater Boston, Metro West, and South Shore areas, according to the company website

"From power lines to irate neighbors, urban tree cutters encounter things that the forest loggers wouldn't dream of," National Geographic says on its website. "Specialized Rigging and Tree Care are old school and take down trees with nothing more then a rope, pulley and a chipper. ... Every day is different, and each job presents a whole new set of obstacles. Up in the tree, there are no second chances. One wrong move could cost them thousands of dollars in property damage… or even their lives."
