South Shore author and Children’s Advocate Emily Colson will come to Hingham Thursday night and share her inspiring story of faith and joy discovered through raising a son with autism.
Colson's lecture will be held at the South Shore Baptist Church on Feb. 7 at 7:00 p.m.
Colson is expected to offer encouragement to anyone raising a child with special needs. Her son, Max, was diagnosed at an early age, with autism. As a suddenly single mother, she experienced challenging years which she will share with her audience.
Her book, “Dancing with Max”, winner of the Autism Society of America’s “Literary Work of the Year Award,” chronicles this story with great wisdom, candor and disarming humor.
“Ms. Colson is an artist and writer who, after many years as an art and creative director in the fields of advertising and design, has poured her creative gifts into helping her son, Max,” The South Shore Baptist Church said in a press statement. “In the process, she pioneered an innovative communication system to assist him and others.”
The author will have her books to sign and refreshments will be served.
