The signs have been taken down, the pepper door-knob has been removed from its front entrance, and baby back ribs are no longer cooking inside.
The Chili's Grill & Bar on Whiting Street in Hingham closed on January 29. Rumors that the restaurant was closing have been spread around town for the past few years, and last week, the restaurant shut its doors for a final time.
On the door, the restaurant posted a sign thanking its customers and asking them to visit the nearby South Shore Chili’s in Braintree and Plymouth.

“We would like to thank you all for your patronage!,” the sign read.
The official reasoning for the closing has not been announced. Calls to Pepper Dining Inc., the company that operated Chili’s, have not been returned.
