BlumShapiro Partners with South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center for Gift Giving Program

New England’s leading accounting, tax and business consulting firm to provide financial support, winter clothing and toys to a community program that is expected to reach over 3,000 people in Quincy and surrounding towns.

This holiday season, BlumShapiro, the largest, regional accounting, tax and business consulting firm based in New England, has teamed up with the South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center for its annual Holiday Gift Giving Program.  BlumShapiro and its employees will hold a toy and clothing drive at their offices in Quincy to generate donations for the program which provides low to moderate income families with gift certificates, winter clothing and gifts. In addition, BlumShapiro will donate $1,000 to the Center that, last year alone, served a record-breaking 3,000 people living in Quincy, and the demand is expected to increase again this year.

“We are very excited to support the Holiday Gift Giving Program for a second year in a row,” said Kevin White, partner in charge of the BlumShapiro Quincy office. “This is a great opportunity to support and contribute to the overall well being of the community in which we do business.”

In addition, volunteers from BlumShapiro will be working side-by-side with the Germantown Neighborhood Center to sort the donated gifts and assemble the packages for delivery to families throughout the South Shore and Quincy. The BlumShapiro office will also serve as a gift-giving location so that employees and visitors can select an ornament from a tree and purchase the needed gifts. 

Food baskets, clothing, cash donations and gift certificates will also gladly be accepted at the South Shore YMCA Germantown Neighborhood Center. All gifts should be submitted by December 17, 2013. BlumShapiro employees will join Germantown employees on December 19, 2013 to help sort the gifts and assemble gift packages which will be distributed on Christmas.

The goal of the Holiday Giving Program is to ensure that every child receives a winter coat, one outfit and pajamas, along with gifts from their wish list. Another key component of the Holiday Gift Giving Program is providing a week’s worth of groceries for each needy family. Confidential advocacy, crisis intervention and time-limited counseling services will also be made available to participants in need.

When they receive that gift on Christmas it’s a reminder that someone cares. We always welcome gift card donations as they prove to be a versatile present for teens and those with varied interests.”

The Holiday Gift Giving Program runs from now through December 17, 2013.
