South Shore Chamber of Commerce Announces South Shore YMCA as Director's Partner for 2014

The South Shore Chamber of Commerce, the region’s largest Chamber, today announced that the South Shore YMCA (www.ssymca.org) has been named a President’s Partner for the year 2014.

 

The South Shore YMCA is one of only 18 organizations to hold this prestigious position with the South Shore Chamber. Partnerships provide financial commitment to the Chamber and afford the partners promotional opportunity, high level connections with other Chamber partners and high-level participation in Chamber activities, while boosting the Chamber’s visibility.

The South Shore YMCA has been dedicated to improving the quality of life for all in the communities it serves since 1892.   Today, the South Shore YMCA involves more than 70,000 members and participants in over 100 different programs across six branches.  In addition to the traditional YMCA facilities and programs in health and wellness, aquatics, and child care, this association is unique in its focus on providing arts and sciences programs, education, and resources on the South Shore, as well as social services and support programs and a food pantry.  The South Shore YMCA also oversees Camp Burgess & Hayward, a resident camp located in Sandwich that impacts the lives of hundreds of children each summer through traditional and specialty overnight camp programs and teen adventure camps.

“Our partnership with the South Shore Chamber of Commerce is a natural fit since we have the common mission of strengthening the South Shore community through programs, services, and projects that make the South Shore a better place to live, work, and play for all,” said Paul Gorman, president and CEO of the South Shore YMCA. 

 

“As a member of the South Shore Chamber, we’re able to connect with other community organizations to collaborate on projects which help further our mission on the South Shore,” Gorman continued.  “As a nonprofit, support from the business community is vital to our fundraising and advocacy efforts.”
