Historic Home Moves Across Hingham

The historic “The Old Fort House” was moved from Fort Hill Street to behind the Old Ordinary on Lincoln Street on Wednesday morning.

During the move, detour routes were made available for anyone traveling in the area of Fort Hill Street, West Street, North Street and Lincoln Street.

The house was relocated via a large transport vehicle.

As of 1 p.m the home was being lifted from the vehicle onto the property behind the Old Ordinary.

The home was built in 1685 to serve as a military storehouse for one of the town’s three forts.
