Emily Colson, Inspiring Author and Children's Advocate to Speak

The public is invited to meet author and speaker, Emily Colson, and to hear her inspiring story of faith and joy discovered through raising a son with autism.

Emily’s son, Max, was diagnosed at an early age, with autism.  As a suddenly single mother, Emily went through many challenging years, only to emerge confident and joyful about the gift she has been given. And Max, this remarkable young man who struggles to communicate, has life lessons to teach us all.  Her book, “Dancing with Max”, winner of the Autism Society of America’s “Literary Work of the Year Award,” chronicles this story with great wisdom, candor and disarming humor.

Ms. Colson is an artist and writer who, after many years as an art and creative director in the fields of advertising and design, has poured her creative gifts into helping her son, Max.  In the process, she pioneered an innovative communication system to assist him and others.
