Basement Door Kicked In, Multiple Items Stolen From Hingham Home

Hingham police investigate home invasion off Beal Street.

The basement door was kicked in, computers and jewelry were taken, and drawers and closets were rummaged through after a Hingham home break-in on Wednesday afternoon.

Police are investigating the home invasion, after they were called to Weathervane Court, a newer development with areas still under construction off Beal Street   at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

“Drawers on the first floor of the home were found half opened,” Hingham Police said in a statement. “The master bedroom was in disarray with the drawers and closet ransacked.”

Police believe that two suspects who escaped on bicycles were responsible for the break-in after they found two sets of tire impressions going across the grass to the rear of the house and to nearby Squirrel Hill Lane. 

Police said the suspects entered the home between 11 a.m. to 1:30pm. kicking in a basement door located on the back of the house underneath a deck.

The items reported stolen were jewelry, designer brand purses, sunglasses, flip flops, two lap tops, credit cards, checkbooks, and a digital camera.

The resident said that the thieves might have targeted designer brands as less valuable items were left behind.

Police believe the unknown suspect or suspects was carrying bags or backpacks.
