Hingham Teen Arrested For Stealing Wine in House Break

Two bottles of wine were the only thing stolen in a home break on Saturday night. One of the bottles was found in the suspect's Hingham home and he was arrested by police.

Police arrested an Hingham teen who is believed to have broken into a Golf View Road home on Saturday night to steal alcohol.

William Bryce Donovan, age 18, of 28 Smith Road, Hingham was charged with breaking and entering the home at night to commit a felony, larceny from a building, malicious destruction of property over $250 and  possession of alcohol as a minor.

After speaking with police after the burglary, the Golf View Road residents noticed two bottles of wine missing, one with a distinctive top. Based on information from previous house break-ins that occurred on Smith Road and Sherwood Road, officers went to Donovan’s home and located the bottle with the distinctive top and arrested Donovan.

Police believe Donovan kicked in the Golf View Road’s rear kitchen door between 6:30- 10:08 p.m. Saturday night to gain entry and then stole the wine from the kitchen.   Damage was also done to the basement door, where police believe Donovan kicked it but was unable to open the door.

Donovan was released after posting $240.00 bail and will be arraigned at Hingham District Court today, November 5.  Police said it is not yet determined if Donovan was connected to any other home breaks.  The incidents on Smith Road and Sherwood Road still remain under investigation.
