Hingham Man Arraigned on Assault and Battery Charge

Anthony G. Maggiore, 56, of 11 Farm Hills Lane, Hingham was arraigned in Hingham District Court on a charge of assault and battery. The case was continued to April 4. Maggiore was released on personal recognizance. The charge stems from a Sept. 26, 2012 incident in Hingham at 6:58 a.m. when police responded to a report of a disturbance over a woman who went to a house to retrieve a sign allegedly taken from her property.

John S. Quigg, 22, of 10 Great Hill Drive, North Weymouth was arraigned in Hingham District Court on charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation. The case was continued to March 6. Quigg was released on personal recognizance. The charges stem from a June 5, 2011 incident in Hingham at 2:45 a.m. when police allegedly observed at the Main and High streets intersection a black Hyundai making a turn at a high rate of speed and then crossing the solid white fog line. Police stopped the vehicle, administered field sobriety tests, and arrested Quigg on suspicion of being intoxicated.

Drew P. Canavan, 20,of 28 Village West Terrace, Plymouth had charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of alcohol by a minor, and a marked lanes violation continued to April 17 for a jury trial in Hingham District Court. The charges stem from a Aug. 11, 2011 incident in Hingham at 12:40 a.m. when police allegedly observed a black Toyota sedan cross the double yellow line at the intersection of Main and High streets, then again in the area of Main Street and Mill Lane. Police stopped the vehicle, administered field sobriety tests, and arrested Canavan on suspicion of being intoxicated.
