Police Log: Harbormaster Rescuers Rowers in Hingham, Man Steals Food

The following excerpts are from the Hingham Police Log from Wednesday, August 7 to Thursday, August 8. The arrest information does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, August 7:

At 9:12 a.m. a caller at the Planet Fitness in Hingham reported a man was injured while using the treadmill.

At 10:01 a.m. a caller reported vandalism inside the South Shore Country Club building.

At 3:55 p.m. A Hull Harbormaster was called to rescue two rowers, after they had trouble getting ashore with the strong currents.

At 6:51 p.m. a caller reported a suspicious white male who stole food from the 99 Restaurant and then put it in a black thrash bag.  The caller reported one of the stolen items was a whole watermelon.

Thursday, August 8:

At 1:77 a.m. police arrested Mark McManus, 44, of Cohasset for operating under the influence of alcohol (second offense).  The arrest was made on the corner of Burditt Avenue and Otis Street.  McManus was also charged with having an open container.

At 3:36 p.m. a caller reported a larceny from her vehicle while she was parked at the Derby Street Shoppes.

At 6:24 p.m. police arrested a 39-year-old Hingham man for driving with a  suspended license on Chief Justice Cushing Highway.

At 8:25 a.m. a caller reported a gas grill fire on Rice Road. No one was injured.
