A jogger was hit on Longmeadow Road in Hingham on Monday morning.

A teenager jogging in South Hingham suffered serious injuries after she was struck by a vehicle on Monday morning.

The 16-year-old Hingham girl, who was not named by police, was  wearing headphones while running on the right side of Longmeadow Road with traffic,  when she was struck at around 10:30 a.m..

The road , which connects Prospect Street and Main Street, does not have sidewalks.

Police said  she was struck by a 67-year-old Hingham woman driving a 2000 Toyota Camry. The vehicle  was headed West toward Main Street, in the same direction as the jogger.

"The driver immediately stopped at the crash scene," Sgt. Steven Dearth said in a written statement. "The teenager was transported from the scene by ambulance to directly to Boston Children’s Hospital where she was admitted."

Dearth said weather and speed do not appear to be factors.
