Hingham Residential Property Tax Rates Compared to Other South Shore Towns

See how expensive it is to live in Hingham.

Hingham stacks up pretty well against some of its neighbors in terms of commercial industrial tax rates, at least in some areas, and is the third least expensive town among many of its neighboring communities across the South Shore as of fiscal year 2012, according to the Boston Business Journal.

Hingham’s residential and commercial/industrial property tax rate is just 11.89. The highest residential property tax rate on the South Shore was Milton with 14.35.  The lowest was Braintree with 10.45, which also had the highest commercial/industrial rate of 23.65.

Chilmark on Martha’s Vineyard has the lowest residential property tax rate in the state at 2.08 flat rate between commercial/industrial. Sharon has the highest residential tax rate (also with a flat split) in Massachusetts at 20.11.

Everette had the highest commercial/industrial tax rate at 41.66, and Chilmark also had the lowest rate in commercial/industrial at 2.08.
