New Hingham Swap Shop Needs Volunteers Before Opening

The new and improved swap shop will not open until volunteers are needed.

The Long Range Waste Disposal and Recycling Committee needs willing Hingham resident to volunteer at the new Hingham Swap Shop.

The committee is looking for any and all citizens over age 18 to volunteer for two hour shifts.

The new Swap Shop has space to keep items for several days. It will even protect some items from the weather, to make it easier for them to be picked up for re-use. According to the committee,  every item “free-cycled” through the Swap Shop keeps the item out of the trash stream, reduces the town’s waste disposal costs and also helps the environment.

The new Shop, which was requested by many Hingham residents, will open once the committee obtains enough workers to volunteer their time.

“We heard you and your hopes for an improved Swap operation,” the committee posted on a bulletin sent around town. “Now we need you to make it happen.”
