Selectman Says She Won’t Run For Reelection; Planning Board Member To Run in Her Place

Longtime Hingham Planning Board member Paul Healy said he will run for selectman in April after Chairwoman of the Board Laura Burns said she will not seek reelection.

Laura Burns, the chair of the Board of Selectman announced Monday that she will not un for reelection in April.

In an email to Boston.com, Burns said it had been an honor to serve the town for the past six years but she will be leaving her seat without any unfinished business.

Burns told the Globe that her greatest accomplishment had  been working with everyone in town government to get Hingham through the recession with their AAA bond rating intact while building  two schools.

Longtime Hingham Planning Board member  Paul Healey announced that he will run for the selectman seat.  Healey, raised in Hingham, is an attorney who has served on the Planning Board for 19 years.  He previously worked for 11 years as a policeman for the town.

The town will decide the next selectman at April’s annual Town Election.
