Hingham High School Challenges Silver Lake to a Shoe/Sneaker Drive Contest

The high school that collects the most shoes and sneakers will be honored on Feb. 14.

Hingham High School students will be collecting old sneakers and shoes both for recycling and for donation to charity during the next couple week.

The high school said it has challenged Silver Lake Regional High School to see who can collects the most by Feb. 12.

The winner will be honored during a halftime presentation at the boys’ varsity basketball game between the two schools on Thursday, February 14.

Hingham High School Assistant Principal Rick Swanson said the gently used pairs will be donated to the American Red Cross while more damaged shoes will be recycled through Nike’s “Re-Use a Shoe” program.

Sneakers and shoes can be delivered to a collection bin in the main lobby of Hingham High School through February 12.
