Donors are encouraged to attach a tag with your name and a personal note before donating a Teddy Bear.

A South Elementary School teacher will hold a teddy bear drive at the Hingham Congregational Church on Route 228 on Saturday for the families in Newtown, CT.

Mark McNulty, a South School third grade teacher along with volunteers will be at the church  between 8-10 a.m. collecting new or gently used teddy bears and stuffed animals for the children of Newtown. Donors are also encouraged to attach a tag with your name and a personal note.

“In the past, these toys have offered a sense of comfort and security to children in times of sadness or worry,” McNulty said in an email.

After the drive, McNulty will personally deliver the bears and animals to Newtown firefighters next week, who will then distribute them to students in Sandy Hook and neighboring schools, as well as children of first responders and employees.

If you are unable to bring your bear to the drive on Saturday, bears and stuffed animals can be dropped at the Hingham Police Station up until Monday (Dec.24) morning at 10 a.m.
