Registration Now Open For Hingham Spelling Bee

The Hingham Education Foundation will hold its second annual Spelling Bee on Feb. 10 for any student in second to fifth grade who attends any of the four Hingham Public Elementary Schools.

This February, the Hingham Education Foundation wants to see which Elementary School students are the best spellers in town.

HEF will hold its second annual Spelling Bee on Feb. 10 for any student in second to fifth grade who attends any of the four Hingham Public Elementary Schools.

All students who wish to enter will compete on a three-person team. Spellers can join a team with friends from any Hingham elementary school and are required to come up with a team name.  If a student does not have a team, they will be assigned one.

In the competition, one member will be designated as the team’s writer. The Master of Ceremonies will pronounce the word, give the definition of the word, use it in a sentence, and pronounce the word once more. Individual note pads and pencils will be at each table, and team members may collaborate on the spelling of the word, which will then be written on the note pad.

There will be one winning team from each grade level.  All winners will receive a trophy and prizes. All participants receive a tee shirt and a voucher for one-month free service from Learn Kids Learn.

The Spelling Bee will take place Sunday Feb. 10 at the Hingham High School Auditorium from 12:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Each grade will be scheduled a different time frame.
