Hingham Gymnasts Take Top Places at State Meet

by Jennifer B. Petrillo

Local Hingham gymnasts, Lanah Petrillo (12) and Paige Crenier (13), took top spots at the Massachusetts State Gymnastics meet held this past weekend in Woburn.

Over 400 level 6/7 gymnasts from around the state took part in the meet for which you had to qualify earlier in the season. Lanah, a level 6 gymnast, secured 1st place on Beam with a 9.475, finished second place on both vault and floor and took the fifth spot on bars for a second place finish in the all-around. Paige's 9.2 on bars earned her first place and she took second place on both floor and vault for a third place all-around victory in the level 7 category.

Led by coach Rett Ware, they are members of the Junior Olympic Team at South Shore Gymnastics Academy (SSGA) in Rockland. The SSGA level 6 "Dream Team" won third place team, bringing home the first State banner for the just over two year old elite training facility opened by Rett Ware in 2012.
