Hingham Recreation to Open New Indoor Winter Playground

Hingham's newest playground will open on January 2.

The Hingham Recreation Department will open a new playground in January, and on Wednesday they are looking for some children to test it out.

The Hingham Rec. is looking for children age 5 or younger to test out the new playground on Wednesday the 19th at 3:30 p.m. at the Rec Center at the Town Hall.  Wednesday’s trial is free for children and starting January 2, it will be open in the afternoons from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for $5 a child.

Director of Recreation Mark Thorell said he hopes families will come to Wednesday’s free trial to test the playground and  “tell us what you think, what we're missing, and help us develop the do's and don'ts. “

Peanut-free refreshments will also be provided at the free trial.

Thorell said the new playground will include a full area of climbing structures, ride-on toys and trikes, soft balls for kicking and chasing, a full-sized bouncy house, and an entire area of soft mats and climbing toys for babies.

“Basically everything your baby or toddler needs to work off some energy before dinner and to break up those long winter days,” Thorell said.
