Thanks to a Freedom of Information Act request, the Boston Globe found out how many concussions school sports players suffered during the last school year.

Concussions are much in the news lately, especially in football. Teams from Pop Warner to the NFL are wrestling with how best to protect players in an inherently violent but much-loved game.

The Globe reports that 360 high schools and middle schools across the state documented head injuries as required by state law.

Hingham High School reported 24 concussions during the 2012-2013 school year.
