Hingham Father, Daughter Ride Together in Pan Mass Challenge

After being inspired by his daughter, Emily who rode in last year's PMC, David von Loesecke decided to ride this year and raise thousands for cancer.

From Wellseley to Bourne,   David von Loesecke and his daughter Emily joined thousands of other riders in the Pan Mass Challenge last weekend and biked  82.4 miles to fight cancer.

The father and daughter who reside in the World’s End area of Hingham,   trained for three months along the beautiful coastal surroundings of Hingham and the South Shore and raised over $7,000 for the Dana Farber Cancer institute.

David decided to join Emily  this year after seeing her ride for a cause in last year’s fundraiser.

“When my wife Karen and I went to cheer on  Emily last year, I was so inspired by the enthusiasm displayed during the event, I had to do it myself,” he said. “Having just turned 60, I thought what a great way to celebrate life, volunteer for something really meaningful and ride with one of your kids.”

Von Loesecke also joined his fellow employees from  Hollingsworth & Vose, and rode in honor of a beloved colleague who succumbed to pancreatic cancer this spring.
