Hingham Mothers Club To Present Butterfly Effect Award

The Hingham Mothers’ Club will recognize one Hingham mother who has improved the community through service with the Butterfly Effect Award.

HMC President Liz Klein said the term 'butterfly effect' was coined by the chaos theory to suggest that the wing movements of one butterfly might have significant repercussions on wind strength and movements throughout the weather systems of the world, and, theoretically, could cause tornadoes halfway around the world.

Klein said the name of the award was inspired by the words of Peter Milewski to describe his beloved daughter, the late Carolyn Ouellette, a Hingham mom active in community service.

"Carolyn and other Hingham moms make amazing things happen both in this town and also in communities around the world," Klein said in a statement . "This award is designed to recognize the amazing work that mothers do on a daily basis to make our local and larger community a better place. We’re so excited to launch this award and look forward to receiving the inspiring nominations."

To nominate a Hingham mother  for the HMC Butterfly Effect Award, anyone can fill out the nomination form on the HMC website.  Information received with each Butterfly Effect Award nomination will be posted on the HMC website. The winner of the award, which will be announced on June 1, will receive their very own butterfly wings and an Apple iPad.
