Hingham Resident Helping Finish Fight Against Breast Cancer

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the largest network of breast cancer awareness events in the nation.

Fred Hussey of Hingham recently attended the kickoff breakfast for the 21st annual American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer in Boston at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel.

He was joined by emcees Candy O’Terry of MAGIC 106.7 and Christa Delcamp of 7News on 7NBC and CW56.

Fred is a member of the American Cancer Society New England Division Board of Directors and is a longtime Making Strides in Boston team leader, who walks in memory of his mother. He will be one of some 40,000 people helping to finish the fight against breast cancer Sunday, October 6 at the DCR Hatch Shell in Boston.

Making Strides in Boston, a five-mile fundraising walk, will unite the community to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate about the importance of prevention and early detection, and raise funds to support groundbreaking research to find, prevent, treat, and cure breast cancer; ensure access to mammograms for women who need them; and provide free resources and support to the one in two newly diagnosed women who turn to the Society for help and support.

To support Fred in his efforts to end breast cancer by making a donation to his Making Strides team, email him at  fhussey1@verizon.net.

2013 media partners for Making Strides in Boston are MAGIC 106.7 and 7News on 7NBC and CW56.  2013 Flagship Sponsors are Al Fresco All Natural, The Cumberland Gulf Group of Companies, MFS Investment Management, Inc., Siemens, The TJX Companies, Inc. and WeGotSoccer.
