2013 Notre Dame Academy Graduates By Town

A total of a 141 seniors from 26 towns will graduate from Notre Dame Academy. Graduation is Friday at 5 p.m.

20 Hingham Seniors To Graduate From Notre Dame Academy

Hingham Middle School Names New Principal

Derek Smith is named new principal of the Middle School.

Hingham Middle School Assistant Principal Derek Smith has been appointed the school’s new principal. Smith will replace Roger Boddie, who is retiring after this school year. School Superintendent Dr. Drorothy Galo announced the new appointment at Monday’s School Committee meeting. “In addition to his leadership and curriculum knowledge, he brings prior experiences as a building principal and assistant principal in another district,” Galo said in a written statement. David Jewett was also named Director of Mathematics  on Monday.  Jewett will succeed Doug Holley. “These two gentlemen ( Smith and Jewett) will represent all of us well in their new roles, do what's best for kids and to facilitate learning, and carry on with the tradition of …

Notre Dame Academy Graduates Today

A total of a 141 seniors will graduate from Notre Dame Academy.

Rear Admiral Margaret DeLuca Klein will deliver Notre Dame Academy’s 160th commencement address tonight. Admiral Klein, who is from Weymouth, graduated from NDA in 1975. She attended the U.S. Naval Academy and went on to become the first female commandant of the Academy, serving from 2006 through 2008. “We are thrilled to welcome such an accomplished alumna back to campus. I know our graduating seniors will appreciate Admiral Klein’s thoughtful advice and unique perspective,” Sister Barbara A. Barry, SNDdeN, president of the Academy said in a press statement.   Over the years, Admiral Klein has returned to NDA for Career Day and other alumnae events. The academy said she is excited to not only speak in front of the Class of 2013 but also …

Hingham Senior Projects to Be On Display Tonight

Parents and the friends are welcome to come by the school cafeteria from 6-8 p.m. tonight to check out the senior projects.

They rode along with Hingham firefighters, made their own music albums, raised money for third world countries, worked with real estate agents, found historical glitches with one town building, and designed murals on school walls. These were just a few examples of the over 20 Hingham High School Senior Projects presented at the school last year.  Tonight they will do the same.  Parents and the friends are welcome to come by the school cafeteria from 6-8 p.m. tonight to check them out. The Senior Project Program allows qualified seniors to spend the fourth term working on a substantive project of their own design for twenty or more hours a week with guidance from faculty members. The successful completion of this project is required for …

Hingham School Takes Caution After Suspicious Man Spotted By Children

East School principal Anthony Keady said there was no overt act by this man directed towards the children.

The East Elementary School contacted police on Thursday morning after two  female students observed a suspicious man while walking to school and reported it to a crossing guard. Hingham Police Sgt. Steven Dearth said the man, who was spotted on Rockwood Road, never approached the children. In an email to parents, East School Principal Anthony Keady said Hingham officers talked to the students and did a visual check of the area and determined that there was no immediate threat evident. “There was no overt act by this person directed towards the children but the crossing guard did contact the Hingham Police Department,” Keady said in the email. Keady said the school will follow up with police in the next few days to determine if there is any…
