Resident Helps Police Catch Two Alleged Hingham Thieves

Two young Hingham men were arrested for breaking into a car on Monday morning.

A Willow Circle resident looked out her house window on Monday morning to find a suspicious young man rummaging through her vehicle.

She quickly called police and told them that the man was wearing a black baseball cap, and when police arrived in the neighborhood, they stopped a vehicle carrying two men matching the description.

Hingham Police Sgt. Steve Dearth said an officer stopped the 2000 Jeep Cherokee near Plymouth River Road just after 5:30 a.m. on Monday.

The officer noticed the driver was sweating, had a shaky voice, an had a large amount of loose change in his pocket,” Dearth said.

When police searched the vehicle, they found eight cell phone chargers that did not belong to the suspect’s cell phones.  They also found $17 in cash, four pair of iPod headphones and gift cards.

Police arrested the driver Kyle H. Burden, 26, of 9 US Bates Road, Hingham and the passenger Michael R. Donovan, 22 of 306 North Street, Hingham.

Each were charged with breaking and entering during the day and disturbing the peace.

Dearth said the woman’s vehicle on Willow Circle had been left unlocked.

It is still being investigated if the suspects are linked to other break-ins in the area.
