Wahlburgers Launching Canadian Outpost

Originally founded in 2011, Wahlburgers is an award-winning burger concept from Wahlberg brothers, Paul, Mark and Donnie.

Wahlburgers founders Mark, Donnie and Executive Chef Paul Wahlberg are opening a second restaurant far from the Hingham Shipyard, at a luxury boutique hotel in Toronto.

Wahlburgers Canada, like the original location that opened in Hingham in 2011, will feature "casual comfort food in a family-friendly environment," including fresh made-to-order burgers, fries and frappes – a menu that is described as reflecting classic American and Wahlberg childhood favorites.

A "green carpet" event Sept. 9 is scheduled to celebrate the restaurant's upcoming opening at the 92-room SoHo Metropolitan.

“My brothers and I are thrilled to announce the opening of our Canadian location at the SoHo Metropolitan Hotel,” Paul Wahlberg said in press release.

“Having spent a lot of time in the city, we have a strong connection to Toronto and appreciate the vibrant food culture. The Toronto Wahlburgers location will help build on that by using local purveyors to bring our menu to life.”

According to the release, the Wahlburgers menu places emphasis on its use of locally-sourced and house-made ingredients. The Toronto location will reflect the brand’s philosophy of partnering with local food purveyors, as well as feature signature house-made ingredients such as Paul’s original Wahl sauce.

Wahlburgers Canada will look similar to the Hingham location, with a sports bar, seated dining and quick service. The restaurant is slated for an early 2014 opening date.
